Jamie was able to learn some very valuable project management skills that will serve him well in his future career in aeronautical engineering. Jamie was quick to learn new software, including project scheduling tools, and managed to take the lead on a small project by the end of the summer. This clearly exhibited our trust in his abilities.

I've definitely gained a lot of experience and insight into how a project is managed through all its stages. I've become more familiar with procurement procedures, scheduling software, and project timelines while working closely on a couple summer projects. I've been able to witness and learn about how you have to deal with unexpected circumstances during a project, and have learned about the best ways to deal with these sudden issues. I've also gotten better at asking specific and related questions, as well as communicating my point of view / opinion when asked for it.

Please provide additional feedback on your supervisor or the program.

I had a very positive and enjoyable experience overall. This was the first time that FP&C has ever had summer interns and there were some expected road bumps that accompanied that fact, but I feel like I learned and experienced a lot this summer while working for Albemarle County. Matt was a great supervisor and let me basically "shadow" him during meetings and walkthroughs, which was something I thought was really important and insightful. He also made sure to ask for my input on different situations that arose during work, which helped keep me involved during said meetings and walkthroughs.
